William Watson was an English author remembered primarily for his epigrammatic poems. He wrote in the classical tradition, and his primary influences seem to have been Tennyson, Keats, and Matthew Arnold. His verse is contemplative, by turns philosophical and political, and generally structured rather than lyrical. He also wrote articles and criticism. He was knighted in 1917.
